Heating And Air Conditioning and Preventative Maintenance
Course Description
Day 1
​
Troubleshooting basic heating and air conditioning and preventive maintenance. Day 1 shall consist of 8-hours, hands-on instruction featuring a new training aid. This 2-ton, split heating and cooling unit (heat pump, gas furnace and AC) will represent equipment being used at your housing authority. We will simulate all conditions the equipment may experience while emphasizing the need for preventive maintenance.
· Properly charge an AC system
· Diagnosing overcharge of AC system
· Diagnosing undercharge of AC system
· Dirty condenser remediation (outside section)
· Dirty evaporator remediation (inside section)
· Resolving the failure of multiple components
· Troubleshooting and diagnostic critical thinking
DAY 2

Federal Clean Air Act, Section 608 Training and Test. Day 2 shall continue with review of Day 1 and will include the following:

· Proper refrigerant handling techniques
· Discussion time for questions and answers
· Administration of the EPA test
